Something, I’ve Never Experienced Before ISTG

Review By: Joel Lovely

Who should read this book ?

Readers who are interested in fiction, personas, and visualization.

Before:

I picked up this book after my co-worker, Javier, and I decided to read it. I took the liberty of turning it into a competition and reading with great urgency.

After:

I haven’t read fiction for a long time and never had a real appreciation for this genre because I was unclear about the benefits of reading fiction. My underlying bias was truly changed after I started visualizing to the point where it felt like an out-of-body experience.

The book follows our main character, Rachel Watson, as well as snipits of side characters Anna Watson and Megan Hipwell, Rachel who is dealing with intense personal troubles stemming from her failed marriage to Tom Watson. Their marriage has left Rachel as an alcoholic with a pessimistic viewpoint. Despite Tom being in the wrong (having cheated), he quickly remarried Anna Watson and later had a child, Evie, with whom he finds joy while overlooking Rachel’s presence. Pretending to go to work, Rachel closely observes a couple before her commute to London, setting the premise of the book. The couple, initially known as Jess and Jason, are later revealed as Megan Hipwell and Scott Wipwell, respectively, and their story evolves into a mysterious and eventful journey when Megan disappears on Friday, July 13th. Rachel, who was blackout drunk at the scene, tries to find clues and piece together the mystery of Megan’s disappearance. The end is truly shocking!

Conclusion:

For someone looking for a suspenseful thriller and wanting to try something new, visualizing this book is for you!
